Daily Bible Reading - I Peter, II Peter and I John

I'm so glad I started with Romans instead of choosing one of the Gospels. I've read the Gospels more than once, but the early history of the church is something I haven't much explored.

I Peter 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

Favorite verses
1: 24-25
“All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
But the word of the Lord endures forever.”
Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
2:15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—
2:17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
3:1-2 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
3:7  Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
4:7-8 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.

II Peter 1, 2, and 3

Favorite verses
1:5-7 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
1:16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I John 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Favorite verses

1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2:5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
3:18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
