Purchase Autographed Copies of Little Shepherd for Your Little Person

Autographed books make special presents. I hope you’ll consider purchasing a copy of Little Shepherd for your little person this holiday season.

Obed is in the hills outside Bethlehem when the angels appear to announce the Savior’s birth. Can he trust that the miracle of the first Christmas will keep his flock safe while he visits the newborn King?

Read an excerpt!

Off in the distance, a wolf howled. Obed moved closer to his flock, scanning the hills for any sign of a pack that might race in and steal his sheep. His family depended upon the sheep for food and their wool for clothing. No sheep would be lost under his watch.

He shivered inside his cloak. While the days were getting warmer, the nights still chilled him. He walked over to the large fire blazing inside the pit. He rubbed his hands together and held them up to the fire to warm them.

Above him, the sky twinkled with millions of stars. Obed couldn’t remember a night so clear.

Suddenly, a bright light filled the sky.

Obed trembled. “Father, what is happening?”

His father dropped to the ground, his right hand blocking his eyes from the intense light.

Obed pulled the edges of his cloak closer to his face as he squinted up at the mysterious form hovering overhead. He shivered, but this time it was not because of the cold.

Read what critics are saying about Little Shepherd!

“It’s a great book for families during the holidays looking to bring more depth and understanding to the standard nativity story.”

–Christy’s World of Books

Little Shepherd is a great Christmas story for children between the ages of 4-8 that inspires faith and trust in something that cannot be seen, but can be felt in the heart and in the soul. This book would make a great addition to any Christmas collection as well as in any religious setting.”

–The Crypto-Capers Review

“Your first reaction may be, oh goodness another story on the birth of Christ. Toss those thoughts away and immerse yourself and your children into the magical arrival of Christ the Lord. Children’s author, Cheryl C. Malandrinos has re-explored and created a beautiful re-enactment of Christ the Lord’s birth in a unique and awe inspiring rendition which surely will become classical reading in Christian religious school studies and home libraries.

The old time illustrations expertly created by illustrator, Eugene Ruble will leave you feeling that you journeyed through the countryside with Obed and his fellow shepherds.”

–Donna McDine, award-winning author of The Golden Pathway

Autographed copies can be ordered by contacting me at cg20pm00(at)gmail(dot)com. Please place “Little Shepherd” on the subject line. Autographed copies sell for $10 with a flat shipping rate of $3 to ship anywhere in the United States. Additional shipping charges will apply for orders outside of the US.

Can accept PayPal and bank checks or money orders (no personal checks).

Happy Thanksgiving!

The LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10 is taking a break today so that everyone in the States can enjoy celebrating Thanksgiving.

The Bible mentions give thanks or thanksgiving numerous times. The task I gave my Sunday school students this week is to find one verse from the Bible that mentions thanks or thanksgiving and bring it with them to share with the group on the first Sunday of Advent.

Here is one I found while preparing my lesson on thanksgiving:

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name."

Psalm 100:4 (NKJV)

May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Please Pray!

Dear Friends,

I ask you to pray for Verlina and her family. One of her children just had emergency surgery and her husband was in a car accident two days later.

Thank you. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

All my best,

Cheryl

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour- Days 37 and 38

Well, Day 37 of my virtual book tour was a bust. The review hasn't appeared yet, but I know it will eventually, as there has never been an issue with this blogger in the past. So, we're moving onto today, which is Day 38 of the LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10.

Just One More Paragraph is hosting me today with a fabulous review. Here's a blurb:

"Obed's story gives a fresh and heartwarming view of what it must have been like for a child to have witnessed such a great event."

You can read the full review at http://tweezlereads.blogspot.com/2010/11/little-shepherd-by-cheryl-g-malandrinos.html.

Remember that readers who leave a comment at any of my tour stops will be entered into a drawing to win a Christmas Gift Basket retailing for $65. I am also running a giveaway for people who purchase a copy of my book and send me proof of purchase. You can find details of these giveaways at http://www.pumpupyourbook.com/2010/09/27/giveaways-announced-for-little-shepherd-virtual-book-tour-octnovdec-10/.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 36

Have I really been on tour for 36 days? Wow! You must be tired of me by now. I'll have tour stops every day this week except for Thanksgiving Day. I'll be cooking on Thursday.

Today, my first stop is at Tracee's neat blog, persoNovelty. She comes up with the neatest titles. I talk about all sorts of writing things, plus mention two of my mentors. You can find this interview at http://personovelty.com/2010/11/22/interview-with-cheryl-malandrinos-author-of-little-shepherd/.

Now, I really shouldn't promote this second stop because those naughty kittens of ours have been talking. I've scolded them for sharing secrets, but they just don't listen--not unlike their mistresses. If you would like to hear what Giggles and Boots have to say, you can check out Pets and Authors. This blog is run by the very talented, Mayra Calvani. In case you missed it earlier in the tour, Mayra was just one of the Guardian Angel Publishing authors I spoke to before submitting Little Shepherd to them. She also critiqued my story and offered advice. Thanks Mayra!

Amazon has a full stock of Little Shepherd, so now is a great time to pick up a copy. You can find Little Shepherd at:

Guardian Angel Publishing

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Days 34 and 35

So what does the author have for you today, kiddies. Four stops over the past two days and all is well.

On Thursday, I returned to Life in the First Draft to talk about working through that first draft to get to publication. That last part is especially exciting. I've been writing without getting published for years.

My second stop on Thursday was at RBC Library Blog. Beckie posted a wonderful and touching review of Little Shepherd. When I read reviews like this, I know all that hard work was worth it. You can read the review at http://rbclibrary.wordpress.com/2010/11/18/book-review-little-shepherd-2/.

My first stop today is Judge a Book By the Cover. This stop allows me to talk about artist Eugene Ruble and his wonderful contributions to our book. Little Shepherd would not be what it is were it not for the stunning artwork provided by Eugene. I feel so blessed that he agreed to work on it with me.

Today is also my final day at Life in the First Draft. I'm a little sad I won't be there again because it has been one of my favorite blogs since it started. My posts over these three days have been pretty funny, if I do say so myself.

Don't forget about the great giveaways that are running right now. These gifts are beautiful. And I promise not to use anyone's email address except to contact the winner. Giveaway details are at: http://littleshepherdchildrensbook.blogspot.com/2010/09/giveaways-announced-for-little-shepherd.html

If you're interested in picking up a copy of Little Shepherd--which would make my husband deliriously happy--you'll find it available at:

Thanks again for all your support. It means the world to me.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Days 32 and 33

Need to catch up here. Lots of things to do. I had two stops yesterday and one today, plus if I didn't mention it before, I am participating in Picture Book Idea Month (PiBoIdMo). This is where you come up with one picture book idea for every day of November. The goal is to end up with 30 ideas you can work with. There are some nice prizes too, like working with an agent to develop your top 5 ideas. Wouldn't that be neat?

Okay, back to the VBT world. The LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10 continues this week. I can't say that I'm not disappointed in the lack of comments considering the giveaway I'm running, but that's how you learn things. And proving my point that comments don't books, Little Shepherd is doing well. Amazon had recently restocked the book and there are only 2 copies left, so I can't complain much.

On Tuesday, I was interviewed at Let's Talk Virtual Book Tours. I shared my insights into the business from an author's point of view; though being an online publicist definitely influenced my answers.

You can find that interview at http://letstalkvirtualbooktours.wordpress.com/2010/11/16/talking-virtual-book-tours-with-children%e2%80%99s-author-cheryl-c-%c2%a0malandrinos/.

Then I received a lovely review from Lady D Books. Here's a blurb:

"Cheryl’s writing is refreshing and inspiring. I look forward to reading more from this beautiful, talented author. I love this book. ***** stars."

You can read the full review, which includes a shot of the interior cover art and the trailer, at http://ladyd-books.blogspot.com/2010/11/book-tour-and-review-of-little-shepherd.html.

Today I am at Life in the First Draft. This is the first of three days I will be visiting this blog. I love this one because all it talks about is first drafts. To start off my three-day stop here, I am talking about "those" first drafts. Not sure what I mean? You can read all about it at http://lifeinthefirstdraft.blogspot.com/2010/11/those-first-drafts-by-cheryl.html.

Here's my friendly reminder that all you need to do is leave a comment with your email address (so I can contact you if you win) in order to be entered into my giveaway for a Christmas gift basket that retails for $65.

Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement along the tour trail. If you've read Little Shepherd and enjoyed it, I would be thrilled to hear from you at cg20pm00(at)gmail(dot)com.

If you're interested in picking up a copy of Little Shepherd, you'll find it available at:

Christmas Sale at Lynn's Corner

Dear Readers,

I am taking a break from blogging about my virtual book tour to bring your attention to a post at Lynn's Corner that broke my heart, but also inspired me. Lynn McMonigal is a Christian author who hosts some of my clients through Pump Up Your Book.

When I visited Lynn's blog today, I noticed a post titled, "Christmas Sale".  I didn't pay the post much attention at first. It's not unusual for authors to run sales around the holidays. The second time I checked the blog, however, I read the post and tears came to my eyes. I will share some of it with you now:

"On Friday night, November 12, 2010, 4-year-old Travis Rupert and his 10-year-old sister Savannah were involved in a serious car accident while riding their bikes in downtown Jackson. Travis was pronounced dead on the scene and Savannah was taken to C.S. Mott Children’s hospital in Ann Arbor. She suffered several broken bones and numerous internal injuries. At this time, she is in stable but critical condition."

Lynn is donating $5 from each book she sells from now through the end of the year to the Rupert family to help offset funeral and medical expenses. I ask that you consider purchasing one of her books to provide some help to a family in great need of your support and prayers.

Here is information about her books:

FORSAKING THE CALL

Joel turned his back on God 15 years ago, and has never regretted it. Now his wife is in the midst of an unexpected and very stressful pregnancy. When she turns to prayer and faith to get through, Joel is forced to face his past. Can he put aside his anger at God to give his wife the peace she needs to get through this difficult time?

SUMMERTIME

Entertainment journalist Laura Bell has been a single mother for her daughter’s entire life. She has not even seen her daughter’s father, Joey, a member of a once hugely popular boy band, in almost 10 years. When his band, Zero Gravity, plans a reunion tour, Laura is asked to cover the event. She is suddenly forced to confront her past. Can she build a life for her daughter, one that includes Joey, without compromising her new-found Christian faith? Or will she have to choose between God and Joey?
THE LADIES OF FAITH

No one knows the details about the father of Abby’s baby, or why Lorna doesn’t speak to her daughter. Emily’s perfect marriage is threatened by a dark secret. After nearly 30 years of marriage, Morgan is starting over, alone. Frankie is lost and doesn’t know what to believe anymore. The women of Faith community Church need each other now more than ever…. But can they trust enough to share their deepest secrets?

SHATTERED

Kerri Warner did what she had to do. It was a difficult choice, but it was best for her daughter. Wasn’t it? For twenty years, she has silently lived with the truth. Now, as her daughter’s wedding nears, her past screams for her attention.

Janessa Warner has just finished college and is looking forward to marrying Garrett. Hours after a visit to his hometown begins, a horrifying car accident alters their plans. Janessa comes face-to-face with a woman from her mother’s past. The very foundation of her life is shaken. Her search for answers only leads to more questions…

You can contact Lynn at lynnmcwriter@gmail.com or through Facebook to place an order. These books are also available on Amazon.com. Read more about Lynn's Christmas Sale at http://lynnmcmo.com/2010/11/15/christmas-sale/.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

Blessings to all,

Cheryl

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 31

Time sure flies when you're having fun. Today is Day 31 of the LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10.

My chum, Tracee has this neat blog about food called Glamourastic Eats. It features $5 Dinners, Crockpot Tuesdays and other fun stuff that busy moms will enjoy. The feature I took advantage of for today's tour stop is "Who's Coming to Dinner?" This is an interview where you choose five people past or present to invite to dinner. You share why you invited them, what the menu you will be, and what you'll talk about.

This interview gives you a different insight into the lives of the people who are featured there. You can find this post at http://glamourasticeats.com/2010/11/15/guess-whos-coming-to-dinner-with-cheryl-malandrinos-author-of-little-shepherd/.

Leave a comment with your email address and you'll be entered in the giveaway for a lovely basket of Christmas themed prizes retailing for $65.

On another note, Amazon had replenished their stock, but is down to only two copies of Little Shepherd again, so thanks for purchasing the book. Here is a list of where the book is available online for purchase:

If you would like an autographed copy, please contact me at cg20pmoo(at)gmail(dot)com.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 30

Did I type that right? Is it really Day 30 of the LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10? No wonder I'm so darn tired. :)

I'm back at Beth's Book Basket for an interview that follows up the wonderful review Beth wrote last month. Beth asked some great questions, and one very challenging question at the end. You can read the entire interview at http://blogs.bethbencereinke.com/bethsbooksbasket/?p=193.

I encourage you to take advantage of this tour stop to leave a comment for your chance to win. I won't use your email address for any other reason than to contact you if you win--which would be lovely, as these prizes are beautiful.

For a list of where I've been and where I'll be through to December 17th, please visit http://www.pumpupyourbook.com/2010/09/08/little-shepherd-virtual-book-tour-october-november-and-december-10/ As long as you leave a comment by 11:59PM Eastern on December 17th, it counts.

There's also a giveaway running for those readers who purchase a copy of Little Shepherd through December 17th and send along proof of purchase to me.

If you're interested in picking up a copy of Little Shepherd, you'll find it available at:
Barnes and Noble

UPDATE: THE BLOGGER DISCONTINUED HER BLOG, SO THIS REVIEW IS NO LONGER ONLINE. I'M SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

I hope you'll also look for me on Facebook and Twitter.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 29

My first stop today is an interview at The Writer's Life. For whatever reason, there is a large gap between the title and the start of the interview. I think it's a template issue, but sometimes it is better viewed in Firefox instead of IE.

You can find the interview at http://thewriterslife.blogspot.com/2010/11/interview-with-cheryl-c-malandrinos.html.

I am also interviewed at Margot Finke's fabulous blog, Books for Kids and Writing News.  Margot is also published by Guardian Angel Publishing. I love her books, so I am thrilled to be spending the day with her and her readers.

You'll find that interview at http://margotfinke.blogspot.com/2010/11/wonderful-christmas-book-for-kids.html

Remember to leave comments with your email address so that you can have a chance at winning the gift basket of Christmas themed prizes I am offering.

I would also like to thank our veterans, as we honor them today.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 28

Well, well well, what do I have for you today? There are two stops where you can leave comments for a chance to win some great Christmas themed prizes.

My friend, Mayra Calvani, posted a fabulous review a few moments ago. Here's a little bit of what she had to say:

"It is a sweet tale about the power of faith and the good things that come with it. The story has a quiet, magical, slightly suspenseful tone and looks at the birth of Jesus from a different angle."

She also commented on Eugene Ruble's wonderful illustrations. You can read the full review at http://mayrassecretbookcase.blogspot.com/2010/11/review-of-little-shepherd-by-cheryl-g.html.

A Room Without Books Is Empty (I agree) posted a lovely review of Little Shepherd today. Here's a blurb.

"This book should become a new must read every Christmas Season."

You can read the full review at http://detweilermom.blogspot.com/2010/11/little-shepherd-by-cheryl-malandrinos.html

Thank you for following along the tour trail. I hope you're learning a bit more about me, my work, and Little Shepherd. I love to hear from my readers, so why don't you consider following here and/or leaving me a comment here or by email at cg20pm00(at)gmail(dot)com.

I would enjoy hearing from your little ones who have read the book with you too!

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 27

I'm a bit behind in posting these, but you'll forgive me if I was playing Mommy, right? This Tuesday I was volunteering at the school library. Here's where you could find me yesterday:

Mason at Thoughts in Progress allowed me to be a guest at her blog. The topic I was talking about was titles. They don't come easy to me. This post also gave me a chance to mention some neat blog titles that I've always liked.

Then my fellow author and friend, Morgan Mandel , let me share a post about juggling it all. With three kids spanning from 23 - 7 (yes, Sarah had a birthday this month), work, volunteering, and book promotion, juggling is what I do all the time.

The Double M blog is a neat place to hang out. Morgan has a group of loyal followers and many of her posts engage the reader by asking a question at the end. You can read my post at http://morganmandel.blogspot.com/2010/11/please-welcome-childrens-book-author.html

You can purchase Little Shepherd at:

I hope you'll look for me on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks to all my blog hosts, my readers, and most of all to God for His tremendous blessings!

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 26

The LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10 continues this week with two stops for a cold, windy, and slightly snowy November Monday.

My first stop today is at Book Marketing Buzz. This is a blog run by Dorothy Thompson, founder of Pump Up Your Book! My article is titled, "5 Tips for Coordinating Your Virtual Book Tour". You'll find ways to make it easier to coordinate your own VBT, which is something I believe every author should do at least once.

You can read this article at http://bookmarketingbuzz.com/2010/11/07/5-tips-for-coordinating-your-virtual-book-by-cheryl-c-malandrinos/ Unfortunately, you can't leave comments at this blog.

My second stop of the day is at the blog of my dear friend, Linda Weaver Clarke. Though we've never met in person, I feel like I have known Linda all my life. She has been very supportive of my writing, and I hope I have been a source of support and encouragement to her as well.

The best thing about her interviews is that she makes them seem like face-to-face conversations. You can find our interview at http://lindaweaverclarke.blogspot.com/2010/11/interview-with-childrens-author-cheryl.html  Linda loves comments, so I hope you'll leave some. She also has two series of books you can learn more about by checking out the video trailers in the sidebar of her blog.

I want to thank all my blog hosts and all those readers who have helped to bringing Little Shepherd back into the Amazon bestseller rank for a third time since its release. The book reentered the ranks on Saturday at #40. It's now at #87, but I feel blessed it every broke into the ranks at all.

Little Shepherd Ranks as an Amazon Bestseller for Second Day in a Row

Little Shepherd remains in the Top 100 bestselling books in its category (large print, children's) on Amazon for a second day in a row. I am so humbled that readers are so interested in Obed's story.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

God bless!

Little Shepherd Ranks as an Amazon Bestseller for Third Time Since Its Release

More good news on the book promotion front. Little Shepherd has ranked in the Top 100 Books in its category again today on Amazon. When I checked this afternoon, it ranked at #40 in the Large Print - Children's Books category.

This is the third time Little Shepherd has been ranked an Amazon bestseller since its release on August 21st. In October, it ranked in the Top 100 Books in its category for three days in a row.

I feel truly blessed. Thank you to all my blog hosts, my readers, my friends and family for all their support, and most importantly, to God for His blessings on this project.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 25

Amazingly, the first week of November is almost done. Today is my daughter's 7th birthday, so I'm trying to play mommy more than author right now.

I return to The Plot today where the cow from the stable is interviewed about the new visitors that spent a night keeping them company. This piece ended up being much deeper than I expected--despite the two typos that were found.

My friend Ellen from Confessions of an Overworked Mom, who has been promoting Little Shepherd at her blog since it came out, reviewed the book today. She's also offering a giveaway that is separate from the two I am currently running. As part of her Winter Wonderland Blog Carnival going on all this week, those who comment at her review will have the chance to win an autographed copy of Little Shepherd and a 1998 Hallmark Keepsake ornament. It's beautiful, I am staring at it right now.  :)

Good luck to all who enter!

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 24

The schedule changed for the LITTLE SHEPHERD VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR '10 today. Instead of two stops, there are three!

My first stop is at Rose's blog, The Plot. I've always loved this blog because it is a strictly character blog. Rose is always looking for characters to interview, so be sure to let her know if your character is interested.

You can find a short excerpt from Little Shepherd and some information about me and the book today. The link is http://theplotline.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/little-shepherd-by-cheryl-c-malandrinos-2/. Tomorrow, the cow from Little Shepherd  shares her thoughts on the new visitors to the stable.

My second stop is at SFC: Families Matter. This is a Stories for Children blog run by V.S. Grenier. SFC took a short break, but is now back in full force. You'll definitely want to follow their blog if you have kids, are a homeschooling parents, or work with kids in any capacity. You can find my interview at http://familiesmatter2us.blogspot.com/2010/11/little-shepherd-blog-tour-with-author.html.

My final stop of the day is this beautiful review written by April at Cafe of Dreams. She gave Little Shepherd a 5 out of 5 rating.  She doesn't do that often, so I feel truly blessed. Here's a bit of what she had to say:

"Little Shepherd is the perfect story to share again and again with your family and friends.  What a delightful tradition to start, having the family gather together and read this memorable and heart-touching story."

Remember, if you leave a comment at any of my tour stops, you'll be entered into a giveaway for some great Christmas themed prizes. Details of the two giveaways I am running during my virtual book tour can be found at http://littleshepherdchildrensbook.blogspot.com/2010/09/giveaways-announced-for-little-shepherd.html.

Thanks again to all my blog hosts and their readers who have made this virtual book tour possible. I hope you drop me a line to let me know what you think of Little Shepherd. You can reach me at cg20pm00(at)gmail(dot)com.

Little Shepherd Virtual Book Tour - Day 23

I hope you stop over at Debbie's Book Blog today and read her lovely review of Little Shepherd. It's reviews like these that touch my heart. She even gave the book 5 out of 5 apples.

Here is a blurb from her review:

"Malandrinos has a knack for writing in a way that young children will be able to imagine young Obed, worried for his animals even in the presence of baby Jesus."

You can read the entire review at http://debsbookbag.blogspot.com/2010/11/review-little-shepherd.html

Leave a comment with your email address (so I can contact you if you win) to be entered into a drawing for a lovely gift basket of Christmas themed items.

Thanks for the support!
