Blogging at Christian Children's Authors

I picked up an extra day to blog this week at Christian Children's Authors. My topic, "Christians and Halloween." I hope you'll stop by at http://christianchildrensauthors.com/2013/10/31/christians-and-halloween/. I'll also be blogging there tomorrow. Not sure what I'll be sharing, but I'll post a link for you.

Many blessings.

Picture Book Idea Month Registration Now Open!

Well, it's that time of year again. Picture Book Idea Month (PiBoIdMo) is almost here. Tara Lazar has another great lineup of guest bloggers and prizes again this year. To make this a more manageable project for me, I am only going to blog about my progress on a weekly basis. Here is my promise:

I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the PiBoIdMo 30-ideas-in-30-days challenge, and will, to the best of my ability, parlay my ideas into picture book manuscripts throughout the year.

This has been successful for me the past couple of years, so I hope I'm up to the challenge again this year. You'll find my PiBoIdMo posts at http://childrensandteensbookconnection.wordpress.com/ with an occasional post on the Little Shepherd blog.

Little Shepherd VBT 2013

Here is information about my upcoming blog tour for Little Shepherd. I hope you'll follow along.

About the book:
Obed is in the hills outside Bethlehem when the angels appear to announce the Savior's birth. Can he trust that the miracle of the first Christmas will keep his flock safe while he visits the newborn King?

Excerpt:
Off in the distance, a wolf howled. Obed moved closer to his flock, scanning the hills for any sign of a pack that might race in and steal his sheep. His family depended upon the sheep for food and their wool for clothing. No sheep would be lost under his watch.

He shivered inside his cloak. While the days were getting warmer, the nights still chilled him. He walked over to the large fire blazing inside the pit. He rubbed his hands together and held them up to the fire to warm them.

Above him, the sky twinkled with millions of stars. Obed couldn’t remember a night so clear.

Suddenly, a bright light filled the sky.

Obed trembled. “Father, what is happening?”

Blogging Today at Christian Children's Authors

I'm blogging today over at Christian Children's Authors where I talk about praying for our children. As a mom, my heart can be heavy at times with worry for my children. Last night, I spoke to our son who has been married for the past three years. His wife has been ill, which has meant him working many hours a day to make ends meet. He told me that last weekend, he fell asleep at the wheel and drove his car off the road. Thankfully, he wasn't seriously hurt and his car is still driveable.

Several weeks ago, I began asking our church family to pray for my son and daughter-in-law. I'm certain he was protected by those prayers as he drove down the road that night, exhausted from yet another long day at work.

I hope you'll visit my post today at http://christianchildrensauthors.com/2013/10/04/praying-for-our-children/ and share your thoughts on praying for your children.
